BLOG REPORT

The weather man got it all wrong, AGAIN! 51 degrees, cold north wind at 15 knots, early morning fog, 100% chance of rain with clouds. He almost convinced me to sleep in, run errands, and clean the apartment on my precious guide day off. If only I could meet the guy, I would buy him a beer. Being the only one at the ramp this morning was quite the treat. I blame him for ALL of it due to his lack of skills! Keep scaring the others off. Thanks bro, appreciate the assist out there today.

Remember what I was saying about the cold February weather on the last blog post? The clouds, wind, tides, stained water?... Well today it was warmish, sunny, good tide, just enough water clarity. Below is the end result.

Picture yourself cooped up inside your house somewhere up north, lets say Montana, or even Seattle (2 feet of snow!). Its winter, snow falling, temps plummeting close to zero. Your NETFLIX account is running out of options and does not look appealing like it once did. You muster up the courage to gather your things and slowly walk out the door. You set a path to a Redbox location in hopes of keeping the binge watching alive. En route, you realize, "ya know, this ain't so bad out here, the weather man is full of it (The title to my next blog post!)". You start to gain some speed in those steps and loosen up, even crack a smile, and heaven for bid, say high to someone walking the other way. You get to the local gas station that has a redbox kiosk next to the firewood outside. It is slow to react when touching the prompts on the screen. Finally you come across the winning flick. Boom, checkout now! As the machine shoots out your newest propaganda flick you realize you want some ice cream tonight to accompany the lazy boy recliner. Fucking ice cream on a 5 degree day?! Whatever bro, do it your way, live it up, and enjoy.

Long story short, instead of just sitting inside wondering what movie to watch next. Jump a plane south to some warmer temps and give yourself some shots at giant red fish that are still cruising the shallows! I hear a lot of excuses out there lately. Bottom line, truth is, yea the weather has not been favorable majority of the days. It has been 40 ish degrees in the morning with fog. Wind most days. But for the folks that make it down in February, rarely go home disappointed. They forget about all the BS, what they have heard, and smile with what they see. The juice is worth the squeeze all year down here, for the fishing is the excuse but rarely the highlight! See you soon.
